Similar to the HD release of Resident Evil HD, Resident Evil O will support wide-screen formats, updated controls, improved sound, and upgraded graphics.

The player controls Rebecca Chambers a rookie member of S.T.A.R.S and Billy Coen a death-row fugitive. Players will have to utilize both characters, learning their individual weaknesses and strengths help progress in the game and solve puzzles.

The story line takes place in 1998 where reports of murder started to appear around the outskirts of a town called Raccoon City. S.T.A.R.S, the special force division for the city, sends in it Bravo Team to investigate the murders. While en route to Raccoon City the helicopter experiences engine trouble and has to make hot landing in the nearby forest. After landing, Bravo team discovers an overturned police transport with brutally murdered fugitives and police officers scattered around. Documents found at the site of the crash indicate that the vehicle was transporting a ex-lieutenant Billy Coen. who is wanted for murder. From there Bravo team splits up and starts search the area.
