Hey Hocus, I had a look around for the WideCap program, and it's now apparantly become freeware.
However, I had issues with getting it to work with ResNet. If I entered the proxy details (wwwcache.lancs.ac.uk:8080, I believe this is correct?), it returned the error 403 Forbidden. Tried entering my username/password as authentication but that didn't work either. Can you share some tips about how you got it to work? Thanks!

edit: just re-read your post to see that you haven't actually tried it yet. I don't hold up much hope for it working then unfortunately. Maybe it's because ResNet uses a proxy configuration script rather than a server, which WideCap doesn't appear to have an option for.

http://wwwcache-2.lancs.ac.uk:8080

You may or may not need the http:// at the beginning.

Don't put anything in username or password - I don't believe it needs authentication?

If there is an option for 'port' set it to 8080 and try http://wwwcache-2.lancs.ac.uk or wwwcache-2.lancs.ac.uk or http://wwwcache.lancs.ac.uk or wwwcache.lancs.ac.uk

if there is no option for you to set the port try the same as above but with :8080 tagged on the end.

Has anybody got this to work? I will get around to fiddling with it soon.. I just havn't bought any games recently ;)

Has anyone managed to get Heroes of Newerth (http://heroesofnewerth.com/) working over ResNet? I keep getting a 403 error when I try to log-in, and I see a URL like "wwwcache3.lancs.ac.uk/caching/unconfigured/?..." in the logs. I believe it's a proxy related issue but I've spoken to some people who haven't had any problems getting it to work over their proxy.
